Bawo

Born and raised in west London, Bawo is an artist of Nigerian heritage who uses his music as a vessel to reflect his upbringing and the diversity of life in his city.

Drawing influence from various places - his parents’ eclectic collection of Nigerian music and music from around the world, his dad playing 50 Cent and Akon albums in the car on repeat, gospel music from time spent in the church and pop music on the mega music TV channels - he makes imaginative and borderless hip hop that incorporates a world of different sounds.

Through honest storytelling, Bawo taps into his reflective nature to highlight culture and experiences; he tells stories of relationships with different people in his life, personal hardships and lessons learnt, his upbringing in a Nigerian household and the different cultures living in multicultural London.
