Freshly landed on the Brussels scene, Ada Oda delivers an up-tempo binary rock that evokes both post-punk aplomb and the melodic flights of fancy that Italian variety has the secret of, a strange mix...
The project was initiated in 2020 by Cesar Laloux (The Tellers, BRNS, Italian Boyfriend). Originally, the idea was to add a voice that would sing in Dutch. The first lockdown decided otherwise, as Cesar met Victoria Barracato on the internet, she sang, but in Italian. On the basis of demos with an assumed simplicity (rhythm box, guitar and melody), César describes his vision of love and the people around him. His texts were first translated into Italian and then adapted by Victoria, the daughter of a Sicilian immigrant.
On stage and in the studio, the duo is surrounded by Marc Pirard on bass (Italian Boyfriend), Alex De Bueger (Alaska Gold Rush, Gros Coeur) and Aurélien Gainetdinoff (San Malo, Yolande Bashing) on guitar.
After a first tour of Belgian clubs where Ada Oda opened for bands like Wet Leg or The Cool Green House and thanks to “Niente Da Offrire”, a first single-video that was widely relayed, the band is building a nice international web and is about to conquer the rest of Europe. Their first tour will take them to the Benelux countries, Switzerland, France and of course Italy, where the band will embark on a tour with the very garagey label “Slovenly Recordings”.
